The Lumière house was one of the two houses built in this district by Auguste and Louis Lumière (the second house has been destroyed since). The creators of the "Cinematographe" shot the first movie ever, just behind the house in the factory that belonged to the two brothers (they became very rich by producing films for the camera).
Today, the Lumière institute preserves that house but also stores thousands of films that they project in the warehouse where the fist film was shot.
